Marking Speed

The typical marking speed is the speed at which objectionable effects (e.g. corner-rounding) remain low enough to ensure consistent marking quality.

Marking speed provides an initial indication of usable process parameters. For example, as speed increases, so does tracking error and, thus, marking deviations. With compromises in precision, much higher marking speeds are also possible.

Typical marking speed is practically independent of focal length.

In addition to marking speed, the related terms labeling speed and processing speed are used.
